How To Use Bissell Ready Clean Powerbrush

QUESTION: WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS TO CLEAN THE CARPET IN A SMALL APARTMENT (660 SQ. FT.)? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE CARPET TO DRY?
• I've only used ours twice to do about half our house at a time (approximately 600 sq ft at a time). It dried fairly quickly because you are sucking up the water back into the machine as you go. I think it was dry enough to walk on in under 30 minutes, if memory serves. My only disappointment is that it doesn't heat the water or steam on its own. You can put hot water into the tank, however. And it did suck back up a lot of dirty looking water so it was helping. I mainly got it to clean up after our elderly dog who was having lots of accidents.
• Yes, I use it for spot cleaning and it does a great job. It's not very big, and it's light so I like that part too. Drying time isn't too long, depends on how saturated you get the carpet...probably an hour with a ceiling fan on it.
• I wasn't all that impressed with this unit and only used it twice before giving it away. Difficult to use, carpet was always too wet, just never felt it was doing the job.
• I think it would be fine for a small rug. I only use it to clean a bedroom carpet and it works pretty well. My carpet will usually dry in less than four hours. It is not as powerful as my first carpet cleaner, but overall, I am pleased with it's performance. I do miss the hand held attachment for concentrating on some stains instead of the ole' soap and a scrub brush routine, but it works.
• We only use ours for a area rug in our kitchen. I think you would need something with more power. It's ok, but I wouldn't buy it again. I would never try and clean a big room. We have In--Floor heating. In the winter time it doesn't take that long to dry. In the summer time I would say about 2 1/2 hours. I think you would be better off getting a bigger one with more power. Hope this helps you. Good luck !!
• this is not wide it is compact. you control how much water goes on the carpet, I wouldnt do it when its heavily traveled but I put a fan on. its a good little cleaner.
• You would need to refill the tank and cleaning solution a few times to clean that space, but it would do a fine job if the carpet isn't very heavily soiled. It takes a few hours for the carpet to dry once it has been cleaned. The instructions included with the product are thorough and should help you answer if you decide to buy.
• Its more of a spot cleaner., not a all over room cleaner. So the smaller the space the better if you want to do a whole room. The carpet does not exactly get "wet" more as damp. If done correctly the floor dries rather quickly. If your a little heavy on the water the floor can take quite a while to dry, but it also depends on the type of fabric.
QUESTION: MY DOG PUCKED ON 2 COUCH CUSHIONS, WOULD THIS WORK ON THEM?
• Just looked at the manuel that came with the Bissell - and looked at the cleaner - their is not a small attachment that came with it and no where in the manuel did it mention cleaning cushions
• HI Jeanette, no it would. For couch cushions you will want a unit that has an upholstery hose you can use. Check out the BISSELL PowerSteamer PowerBrush Full Sized Carpet Cleaner, 1623 which is the next step up and has an upholstery hose!
QUESTION: HOW DO YOU PUT WATER IN IT. I MUST BE MISSING SOMETHING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK...WATER COMES OUT OF BOTTLE.
• behind the handle, there is a 1 quart clear shaped bottle. Pull it up & out of the machine. Turn it upside down, unscrew the black collar and remove the black screen. Put in some carpet shampoo up to the line on the bottle, and then add hot water up close to top. Put the black filter back into the bottle neck, and screw the collar back on sealing the filter to the bottle. turn the assembly upside down and insert the black filter/collar of the bottle into hole and you are ready to go. When you pull the trigger shampoo/water comes out in front of the machine. Pull the trigger and drag the machine across your carpet. Now, important, let the shampoo/water sit on the carpet for a while, before you suck up the shampoo water. Otherwise it is like washing your clothes for 5 seconds. You have to let the solution get down into the carpet fibers, soak them and then pull the solution out with the vacuum and carpet brushes.
• Hello - the water goes in the upper container with a few drops of soap. Looks at the handle.
• Look at your water tank. It should have a plug and then the ring around it to screw it closed. Maybe there is something wrong with the gasketing mechanism?
• I put water in bottle put top back on and slide in place. Maybe it is missing something or it isn't clicking in???
• If I'm understanding your question. the water is going from the bottle into the machine, but not coming out onto the carpet. I had the same thing when I first got it. You have to loosen the blue collar around the base of the handle and extend the handle all the way up, then tighten the collar again. For some reason, this is necessary for the unit to work properly. Hope this helps you.
• There's a water tank in the rear of the machine, just lift it out and fill with water and solution. Hope that helps.
• Please don't laugh when I tell you this but my cleaning lady uses it. I only see the excellent results.
QUESTION: CAN I PURCHASE AN UPHOLSTERY ATTACHMENT FOR THIS MODEL ?
• There is no hose, so it might not be possible to use attachments with this model. You could check with Bissell for a more definitive answer. The units with the heating element have the hose and attachments, but I wanted to avoid the heating element since it is infamous for burning out in just a year or so.
• I don't think so. I did not see it as an option on the Bissell website.
• I am not aware of any attachments available, and I don't see how an attachment would connect, so I'm going to say no, I don't think so.
QUESTION: DOES IT COME WITH CLEANING PRODUCT?
• Hi, it comes with a very small trial-size bottle of cleaning fluid. Any more would need to be purchased separately.
• Yes, a small amount for testing. Personally, as I noted in my review, I use Resolve High Traffic Foam on the soiled areas and just use hot water in the unit. That way you don't have to measure and guess at amounts when cleaning up a spill.
• Mine did not other than a small trial sized bottle. However, Amazon has some that are reasonably priced. Natalie s.
• Yes, it had a small sample size of the regular shampoo. I also bought a huge bottle of the pet stain shampoo, and it works really well.
• Yes, it comes with a sample size of the cleaning product.
• Yes, it did come with a small trial size bottle of Bissell cleaner, 8 fluid ounces. I ordered two other Bissell cleaners and absolutely love them. This machine is one of the best I've ever used and the other cleaning products work very well, especially the pet stain formulation, but now I simply spray on the cleaning solution and fill the machine with hot water. That way I don't make up more solution than I need and have to throw it away.
• It comes with a small bottle of Bissell carpet cleaner but it is not enough to do large room. I would definitely order a bottle of cleaner so that it arrives with the ReadyClean.
• Yes, it comes with a small sample pkt.
• Yes, a very small bottle.
• Yes, it did come with a cleaning product. We love the Bissell Ready Clean PorwerBrush Upright Deep Cleaner, Blue 47B2. It's perfect for area rugs. It's a small sample of cleaning product. We bought a larger size cleaning product. Sincerely, Mary Lou Pantuso
QUESTION: I CAN GET THE SCREWS IN TIGHT ENOUGH. THE TOP PIECE KEEPS MOVING.
• My top handle is a little loose too...defect in the manufacturing i think. Just return if if you can Bonnie, the trigger on these are bad too! Mine is broke after one use. But my friend threw away my box for it other wise i would've already sent this piece of junk back.
• bonnie, if there is a little play that's ok---the pieces will not be flush...I tried to screw it in so it would be, but if you look at the picture on the box, the pieces are not flush...so there will be a little gap....hope that helps
QUESTION: DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRIGGER? IF U PUSH IT DOWN TOO FAR IT CLICKS AND GOES ALL THE WAY IN.
• update on my previous answer. My son took it apart and put it back together. The problem was it wasn't an together right. it has a space in the front and that is why the trigger wasn't working properly. Now it works fine and does the job that Bissell has always been famous for. I couldn't be happier.
• It used to click when I first used the cleaner, but not it goes all the way in without the clicking sound.
• we have only used it one time to clean all the carpets, and had no problem with it.
• I have not had the problem
• I havent had any trouble with mine.
• I haven't had a problem so far but I have only used a couple of times.
• NO, I haven't had any problems with the cleaner at all.
• No, I haven't had a problem with the trigger. I keep it pushed in while I am cleaning the carpet, & don't touch it while I am in the drying stage. If I take my finger off the trigger it stops generating fluid. I don't know if this helped or not.
• I,m having the same problem with the trigger. A lot of time it won't spray and I take the solution tank out and put it back in and then it works. I had a smaller Bissell cleaner and loved it, but I'm not very happy with this one. I don't have the box that it came in. If I did I would send it back. Trying to decide if I want to get a different one.
• Push down on the shampoo bottle. Make sure it is seated all the way in.
QUESTION: HOW BIG IS THE CLEAN WATER RESIVOIR ?
• About a gallon. If you can afford to spend more money I'd suggest a bigger unit. If you buy this unit remember that the handle has to be extended to work.
• It's 2 or 3 quarts. I don't think it's as much as a gallon.
• I am able to do my average size living room in one tankful.
• about 1/2 gal. small. this unit is for spot cleanups not whole rooms.
• i can do 1/2 of a 5 by 8 rug with the machine before i have to dump the water and make up new water. but it is easy to use and so far has worked well for the price.
QUESTION: THE CLEAN WATER BUCKET JUST EMPTYS OUT IN JUST A FEW MINUTES ALL SEEMS TO GO IN TO THE CARPET. CAN THIS BE FIXED?
• Are you holding down the button the entire time? Make sure to hold the button only when needing cleaner and then the machine will suck it up.
• Check with bissell either at their 800 number or their website. I can clean a whole room and still have water in mine sounds like yours is not seating well where it connects or something. Mine is a couple years old and still doing great . good luck
• You can contact Bissell @ 1-800-237-7691 or you can go online http://www.bissell.com/ under "Contact Us" then the "Customer Care" tab. There is a form you fill in and state your problem and contact information. They respond in a very timely manner. Most times it may be that the tank is not on snug. Try reassembling it.
• Hi, I have never had that problem. I control the water with the lever. You do have to let go of the lever after to first sweep of soap and water. Then it sucks up from the rug when the lever isn't on. You probably know all of this, so maybe it is a problem with the machine. Judy
QUESTION: CAN THIS BE USED ON HARDWOOD FLOORS AS WELL AS ON CARPETS ? THE "MULTISURFACE" MODEL IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND MINE STARTED NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
• I don't think the rotating brush would do anything on hardwood.. So, no I don't think it would be a good cleaner for you..
• I don't think so ,it very powerful it may damage hard floors
• Yes it can! There is a bare floor attachment that allows you to clean hard floors. Check it out here: http://www.bissell.com/parts/?sc=part&productid=20905&partid=31791&cid=ccsocial2107
• No it cannot.
QUESTION: IT SPRAYS ALL THE TIME I REMOVE THE HANDEL THREE OR FOUR TIMES IT STILL DOES IT
• I had a problem with this when I ordered it from Amazon. I urge you to contact Amazon and send this back as soon as you can. the one I had would suck up water and dispense when it wasn't supposed too. There are others more dependable. Try a Hoover. Bissell's service department is horrible; you won't get any relief there.
• Hi, I haven't had that problem. I hold the handle and then it sprays, then I release it and the water suck up. I really have had good luck with it. It shouldn't spray all the time. Judy
• When I first start the machine I will squeeze the trigger about 3 times to express the soap. I have not had an issue with it spraying constantly. I cleaned my son's and my own carpet and it worked wonderfully.
• You have to turn the collar to the locked position when you extend the handle.
• It will only spray if you have the trigger squeezed. When pulling back let go, going forward squeeze.
QUESTION: CAN YOU USE THIS AS A VACUUM AND CLEANER? OR DO YOU NEED TO VACUUM FIRST?
• Yes, it is a carpet cleaner! Smaller version
• No - you need to vacuum first. It would make a really poor primary vacuum
• This is just a carpet cleaner and not one I would waste money on buying.
• Vacuum first. This is a carpet shampooer not a vacuum cleaner
• vacuum first then shampoo
• You need to vacuum first.
• You need to vacuum first. Too much hair and dirt would clog the brushes.
• You'll need to vacuum first. This is strictly a shampooer
QUESTION: WILL THIS WORK WELL ON "LONG" CARPET (IE SHAG)?
• Moderately long, it should. I used my model for three months, every two weeks or so, before it broke entirely. I would strongly caution you that this is not a carpet cleaner as much as it's an upright spot cleaner. Doing anything larger than a small spot or two is overtaxing.
• I have a shag rug and It works really well on it. We have a big shag rug, it takes a couple rounds of doing and refilling...but it does the job.
• I believe - not - because it has a rotating brush rod, instead of revolving scrubber heads. And anything long would just get pulled up around the units brush rod. It's built like a reg. vacuum cleaner only with water reservoir, sprayer and dirt water collection reservoir. I hope that helps.
• I don't know about "shag" carpet as I only have area rugs. But it did an excellant job on those.
• It works beautiful on short carpet of small area.
QUESTION: IS THIS A VACCUM OR A SHAMPOOER?
• Shampooer
• Not a vacuum
• It is shampooer first, but it is a vacum due to the water pickup. Great item my wife uses this product every day. We live in the country and dirt is everywhere !
• It's a shampoo machine. The Bissell website has video description, and instruction. Happy carpet cleaning!
• It is a shampooer. Trigger on handle squirts the water/shampoo then you go back over and suck it all up. Works well, is louder than a vacuum, but does its job. Great especially for small areas.
QUESTION: CLEANER WON'T SUCK UP SOLUTION FROM CARPET
• Make sure it's cleaned.. And you are using compatible cleaing solution .. Other night effect machine
• Make sure you clean the machine after you use it. Sometimes you have to unscrew some parts to be able to remove the belt & spin brush to clean them effectively but its easy to do, this usually resolves any problems you may have.
• well the way it work for me is pulling in the trigger and walking forward and back ward if that dose not work exchange it.for another one.may be something wrong with it .....check to see if some thing got stuck in it, my work just fine
• Make sure the water collection container is seated properly on the vacuum opening where the container and body meet
• Sorry to its not working Elizabeth! Here are a few steps to check that should get it suctioning correctly in no time: http://www.bissell.com/FAQDetail.aspx?id=23699&cid=ccsocial2107
QUESTION: I NEED BELTS FOR POWER BRUSH
• Not a problem, Craig. You can order a new brush belt for your ReadyClean PowerBrush directly from BISSELL: http://www.bissell.com/parts/?sc=part&productid=20905&partid=4412&cid=ccsocial2107
• This is a carpet spot cleaner using water and bit of carpet cleaning shampoo rather than a vacuum cleaner. There is no belt. However, there is a bottle that holds the water solution and a dirty water receptacle that is removed and emptied after cleaning.
• No!
QUESTION: DOES THIS MACHINE WORK WELL ON 8X12 AREA RUGS? DON'T WANT TO SPEND HOURS CLEANING SMALL RUGS.
• I use his both on wall to wall carpet and area rugs as small as 3' x 5'. I use it often on walk through areas as well. I had a hard to clean area where my cat had thrown up repeatedly from illness and this wonderful machine restored my carpet again. Can't say enough nice things about Bissell products. I also have their Spot Bot.
• Yes - that would be a perfect application.
• I would say it would I love it
• I wouldn't waste money on this machine, spend a little more and get a machine that will not fall apart before you even use it. That being said, from the way it appeared to be made for smaller areas.
QUESTION: WEIGHT
• Ball park weight w/ water filled estimate- 15lbs
• Lightweight. My wife is actually cleaning carpets now.
• Not sure maybe 16 17 lbs.
• It is very lightweight and easy to use.
• Very lightweight, less than 5 pounds I'm guess-timating
• lite
• This machine is VERY lightweight. I don't know how much weight is too much; however, for a few pounds more, go with the Hoover SteamVac with clean surge. It cleans better. I had to send this Bissell back - very flimsy.
QUESTION: IS THIS A STEAM CLEANING CARPET CLEANER?
• No, it jets a solution then brushes the wet carpet and sucks up the dirty water.
• It's just a deep cleaner. You put hot water in the water tank but the cleaner does not make it into steam. With that said, it's a good little cleaner for the price, it's my second one. My other one lasted for 10 years.
• No, it puts down hot water and draws it back up.
• No it is not a steam cleaner
• No. It disperses the hot water and scrubs the carpet while vacuuming it up.
• You have to put hot water in. If you're looking for the cleaners that "make" the water hot (stay hot), this is not it. Also, I had some other issues with this cleaner.
QUESTION: NEED A REPLACEMENT FOR THE "QUICK STEAMER" (IT'S 10 YERS OLD). IS THIS A SIMILAR MODEL?
• This is not a steamer. It applies a solution and then sucks it up for emptying.
• Not familiar with Quick Steamer, but this model is a shampoo and extractor, no steam involved
• I've never used The Quick Steamer, but love my Bissell Ready Clean with Power Brush for shampoo projects. Excellent.
• I'm not sure, I haven't looked at the Quick Steam. Sorry
QUESTION: DOES THIS WORK ON STAIRS?
• It comes with a brush, but I tried for the first time last weekend and the hose did not extend and the vacuum will bend forward. Is very hard to vacuum stairs.
• I do not have stairs, so I do not know, but it does not have a hose and attachment which would make cleaning stairs easy.
• I have not tried it on stairs but I believe it is too big for stairs.
• I don't know. I've had great success with my area rugs, but have no rugs on my stairs. Sorry.
• No. Because it does not come with a carpet head attachment, this would not be recommended for the stairs.
• No it will work on stairs - you will need a machine with a hose attachment.
QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH "SMALL" AREA? COULD I DO A SMALL LIVING AREA (15' BY 10') IN ONE OR TWO SETTINGS?
• I clean my small living room rug which gets a lot of dog dirt 3-4 times a year. Excellent cleaner!
• Yes, we did our dining area in one setting, it is a 12 x 15, but vacuum very good first.
• no you cant if done right go fast maybe but no benefit from cleaner rug
QUESTION: ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO GET TIGHT SEAL WHEN REPLACING COLLECTION TANK? AFTER EMPTYING AND REPLACING IT IS EXTRACTING LESS THAN 50% OF LIQUID...?
• The collection tank has two gray grips on each side that locks in place. Make sure that they are locked in place. You may also register this product and get more information from their website.
• Make sure that the handle is in the correct position, it won't seal properly if not. Happened to me first time I used, no water, couldn't figure out the problem until I re read the instructions.
• It leaked non stop
• I have. Not had that. Issue.make. sure. no dirt. Is blocking the suction opening.. reseat the. Tank
QUESTION: CAN THIS BE USED TO ON MATTRESSES BEDS?
• Probably not. It doesn't have an attachment for that. You'd have to stand on your bed and use it like you would on carpet.
• It has some effective attachments. You could probably use the power brush attachment Tha I use on my couch.
• Wait a minute...my mistake. I only uses this once. It was ineffective enough that I traded up to a hoover.
QUESTION: THE PLASTIC BOTTLE WITH THE CLEANER WILL NOT HOOK INTO THE MACHINE, AND ALL THE WATER AND CLEANER DRAINS OUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS
• I bought this for my daughter who just bought another, different brand cleaner because it started leaking when she tried to clean with it
• The plastic bottle does not hook in, you have to slide it in. The bottle sides have indents to slide onto the machine. You have to have it positioned just right to do that.
• Hummm not sure. Mine works fine. Are you pushing it down firmly?
• I am sorry that I can not help. The cleaner that I ordered arrived with parts missing. I returned it to Amazon and received a full refund.
QUESTION: HOW TO UNATTACK THE HANDEL?
• I returned it due to this problem
• Press down on the gray foot pedal
• I don't know about taking the handle off altogether but the light blue part twists to lock the handle in place. You can raise the handle which you would need to do to get the solution to spray correctly.
QUESTION: IS THIS PRODUCT LIGHT WEIGHT
• Yes, that's one of the things I really like about this cleaner. It weighs about 12 pounds and is easy to manuever.
• I think so, and it glides easily without much effort.
• This machine is lightweight. Weighs maybe 7 pounds.
• Yes very much so
• Yes. This machine is such a breeze to use, even with a full water reservoir. I bring it over to friend's homes and when we were moving I schlepped it back to our old place to do up some spots I noticed on the carpets while our furniture was being moved around.
• Just to add my "yes" to the many that have come before.... YES! Impressively so. You'll love it.
QUESTION: CAN I USE THIS MACHINE TO CLEAN A TAPESTRY?
• It doesn't have a separate attachment to clean upholstery. I guess If you wanted to put the tapestry on the floor or carpet to try you could, but not sure. It did a great job in the carpets.
• I wouldn't, it doesn't have a hand tool.
QUESTION: NO WATER WILL COME OUT
• I have not had this problem. you can return it and get another one. I always get the insurance, its cheap . try taking the container out and put it back. sorry I don't know about that. Never had a problem with mine.
• Happened to mine too. You can spray the liquid using a spray bottle, and suck with the machine. Not the best solution, but worked for me.
• Sorry I don't have an answer for you--mine works fine.
• Sorry, I can't help you. I've only used my Bissell once and at that time I had no problem with the machine.
• No water will come out if you follow the step by step instructions for use exactly as written!
QUESTION: DOES IT COME WITH ATTACHMENTS
• Does not come with attachments. If you were planning to clean furniture or other items, this is not for you. This machine is strictly for floors.
• Mine did not come with any attachments , thank you
QUESTION: WHAT IS THE AMAZON ASIN NUMBER FOR THIS PRODUCT?
• The ASIN is B0070YQP6M
Lowest Price as of today is on Amazon.com click here.
